Kaitlyn Age 2

Kaitlyn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in December 2003.  Juvenile Diabetes is a disorder of the body's immune system in which the body does not produce enough insulin, the hormone needed to convert the glucose in food into the energy needed for everyday life.  Typically, Kaitlyn must prick her finger five to seven times each day to check her blood sugar and inject herself with insulin another three to five times.  Presently, there is no cure for diabetes, but the insulin helps to prevent some of the complications which can arise from this disease.

Our Commitment to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the world's leading non profit, nongovernmental funder of diabetes research.  Their mission is clear:  to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of the most innovative, cutting-edge research worldwideAs our family has worked with the JDRF staff, we have come to appreciate how significantly diabetes affects

thousands of kids and their families and how our efforts to raise money for research truly impacts their lives.  With your help, JDRF offers an opportunity to make a real and lasting difference in the quality of life of these kids, just like Kaitlyn, who need our help and who dream of lives free of diabetes.  Thank you in advance for helping us take a step toward making this dream a reality.
